The Venture Bros. is an American animated television series that premiered on Cartoon Network‘s Adult Swim on February 16, 2003. It is considered to be an action/adventure series that mixes comedy and drama together while chronicling the lives and adventures of the Venture family: well-meaning but incompetent teenagers Hank and Dean Venture; their emotionally insecure, unethical but under-achieving super-scientist father Dr. Thaddeus “Rusty” Venture; the family’s bodyguard, originally the ultra-violent and psycho secret agent Brock Samson and his subsequent replacement, the reformed super villain and “cured” pedophile Sergeant Hatred; and the family’s self-proclaimed arch-nemesis, The Monarch, a butterfly-themed super villain.^[1]

As of 2015, it is the longest running original series on Adult Swim to still be in production. The sixth season will premiere on January 31, 2016.^[2]

My So-Called Life is an American teen drama television series created by Winnie Holzman and produced by Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz.^[3][4] It originally aired on ABC from August 25, 1994, to January 26, 1995, and was distributed by The Bedford Falls Company with ABC Productions. Set at the fictional Liberty High School in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, it follows the emotional travails of several teenagers in the social circle of main character Angela Chase, played by Claire Danes.^[5] The critically acclaimed but short-lived show ended in a cliffhanger with the expectation that it would be picked up for an additional season, but it was officially canceled on May 15, 1995.

The show was praised for its portrayal of adolescence and the commentary of its central character, Angela. My So-Called Life was named the second Best School Show of All Time by AOL TV.^[6] It placed No. 33 on Entertainment Weekly‘s “New Classics TV” list of shows from 1983 to 2008,^[7] and then, in 2012, at No. 9 in that magazine’s “25 Best Cult TV Shows from the Past 25 Years,” with the praise,

It was the first teen drama that didn’t feel like an after-school special. No one ever learned a very important lesson or uttered the phrase ‘I love you, Dad.’ Angela acted like a real 15-year-old, with all the crying jags and Buffalo Tom concerts that implies. What’s even more impressive is that anyone who watched the show back in the ’90s, when angst and Manic Panic felt totally of the moment, can now enjoy it on a very different level. Suddenly, Angela’s parents are relatable.^[8]

In 2007, it was listed as one of Time magazine‘s “100 Best TV Shows of All-TIME“.^[9]TV Guide ranked the series #2 on its 2013 list of 60 shows that were “Cancelled Too Soon”^[10] and in 2004 ranked it number 16 on its 25 Top Cult Shows Ever list.^[11] However, the ranking was withdrawn in an updated list published three years later that said the show “had not withstood the test of time”.^[12]

Father Ted is a British sitcom that was produced by independent production company Hat Trick Productions for Channel 4. Written jointly by Irish writers Arthur Mathews and Graham Linehan and starring a predominantly Irish cast, it originally aired over three series from 21 April 1995 until 1 May 1998, including a Christmas special, for a total of 25 episodes. The show also aired on RTÉ Two in Ireland, and in Australia on Nine Network (series 1) and ABC Television (series 2 and 3).

Set on the fictional Craggy Island, a remote location off Ireland’s west coast, the show starred Dermot Morgan as the eponymous Father Ted Crilly, alongside fellow priests Father Dougal McGuire (Ardal O’Hanlon) and Father Jack Hackett (Frank Kelly). Exiled on the island for various past incidents, the priests live together in the parochial house with their housekeeper Mrs. Doyle (Pauline McLynn).

The show was critically acclaimed, receiving multiple BAFTA awards, and remains one of the most popular sitcoms in Ireland.
